Fun with Curves

Well, since all the nice people who used to ask me random questions moved out of our office, I haven't felt like I've had any worth while material to share with all of you. But, then a light bulb went on...I have a whole new source of random questions: Curves. But, not just random questions with me to answer them, oh no, I have a whole chorus of women to tell me I'm wrong and give what they feel is the correct answer.

Question: What was the name of that historic Mexican restaurant you told me about last time?

Answer (me): El Cholo. (www.elcholo.com) Its one of the oldest restaurants in L.A. But go to the original on Western, that's the best one, in my opinion.

Unsolicited Answer #1: Santa Monica is better!

Me: Have you eaten at the one on Western?

Unsolicited Answerer #1: No.

Unsolicited Answer #2: Go to the Mexican place on Hollywood & Beverly. The food is better & cheaper.

Me: What's the name of it?

Unsolicited Answerer #2: Can't remember.

Me: Dialing the one-who-knows-all-cheap-restaurants in L.A. - come to find out its a place I haven't heard the best reviews on from people's whose food opinions I respect. But I don't fight her. Not worth it. She was also the person who made a slightly racist remark when discussing nail salons in L.A. so I wasn't going to take her opinion too seriously.

I still stand by my opinion. If you're visiting from out of town and you want to experience L.A. Mexican food, yummy, historic & not too intimidating, El Cholo is still the place.

What about *cheap* mexican? There are so many little sidewalk taco stands and such that it's hard to pick the wheat from the chaff.

Got any recommendations? West LA? Santa Monica?
