TV Review:Grey's Anatomy

I'm sitting here watching the show, as I do every Sunday and it occurs to me. I love this show. I mean, I actually look forward to this show every week. I haven't felt that way since the Sopranos or Sex in the City. And this isn't even a cable show. And yet, for an evening type of soap opera, they have first rate actors doing great work.

I hope the writers or the network don't do anything stupid.

Restaurant Review - Xiomara

www.xiomararestaurant.com

Ok, so Jack Sprat and Nook are local places to go with solid food. Good solid date places or go if you/ your date want to stay on the westside. She wants to stay nearby, she doesn't know you well enough to go too far. So you've survived the no-really-I'm-not-a-scary-guy phase and you want to impress the hell out of this hottie.

Now Xiomara is a place where you can beat your cheast and say yeah, I KNOW L.A. I KNOW good food. I KNOW places other people don't know. I KNOW where you can get the best mojito EVER. See, I'm a classy guy. I don't drink to get drunk. I drink only the best. But I'm not obnoxious about it. We don't need to be seen because its all about you. We're near the hot spots but not in the middle of some over-priced loud restaurant where the maitre'd won't pay any attention to us because we don't have our own reality shows. No, I'm going to take you to a place with great waitstaff, good music, nice ambiance, and fantastic food.

Movie Review: Good Night and Good Luck

Black and White is just cool. Pictures, movies, whatever...its just cool.

I've heard a few people compare George Clooney (sp?) to Clint Eastwood. Uh, no. Sorry. Not yet. This was a great effort with great acotrs with great writing and a good director. Some of the shots just annoyed the hell out of me while other ones were just brilliant. Definately worth seeing.

Movie Review: Two for the Money

Ralph, Ralph, Ralph, I do love you but I don't love your movie.

This is a really good example of a really good story going really, really bad. I heard the nice fellow who lived/wrote the story...very cool guy. I'm sure the original pitch of the movie was fantastic. And I LOVE Rene Russo and Al Pacino. LOVE. Seriously. But wow, did the studio just kill this movie.

Restaurant Review - Jack Sprat

Wow, another restaurant that I've passed a zillion times and never tried. Jack Sprat is on Pico a few doors east of Westside Pavilion. Its cute, its healthy AND tastey. Like Nook, they're friendly to herbavores and carnivores. And it seems to have a thriving take out business as well...a good plan for last minute "home cooking."

Atmosphere was nice, not too small, not to big. Nicely lit so you don't feel like you have to be on a date or in a group. Waitstaff was very attentive and actually followed the special orders. Yeah, I was shocked too. Don't worry, they were all pretty enough to be struggling actors so I'm sure this is just to make a few bucks between gigs.

Food: The portions were large but not overwhelming (mmmmmmmmmm, leftovers) and they kept the Diet Coke flowing (definately a new favorite place). I rarely order chicken when I'm out 'cause 95% is just not good. But I was feeling lucky tonight and it was great. Not dry, not greasy. Steamed veggies were solid and I was stealing quite a few "air" fries which are my new favorite way to cook/eat french fries. So good.

I'm definately going back. Want to come along?
