Restaurant Review: Chez Mimi

I can't believe I hadn't written about Chez Mimi yet. Shame on me! Chez Mimi has been open in Brentwood for years but still, the food is as wonderful as it was when Mimi was at Chez Helene. If you want absolutely fantastic French food, this is where you need to go. And, you can easily do parties of any size. And when I say that, don't think of those restaurants with the loud group of 20 in the corner with the big table annoying the hell out of you 'cause you can't hear your date talk. Nope, not here. With the layout of the place, the different rooms and the patio, if you're just there for a quiet dinner, you'd never know there was a party in one of the other rooms. But I will tell you that if its chilly out, then it'll be a wee bit chilly inside. So, just wear something warm, and you'll never notice. You'll be too distracted by the food.

Movie Review: The World's Fastest Indian

So I was lucky enough to be invited to the AFI screening of The World's Fasted Indian. I took it as a very good sign when introducing the movie, they introduced the main characters of the cast as well. I thought that showed huge support of their movie that the actors would attend the AFI screening. Obviously not only did they believe in the movie they made, but also in the finished product.

I had read about this flick in Vogue (or Vanity Fair, can't remember) thinking it looked like an interesting independant movie about a very interesting man. Wow, did I underestimate this movie. The acting was wonderful and the story, though somewhat slow, kept you completely engaged the entire time. Don't get me wrong when I say slow. I just mean in this age of Matrix and Harry Potter where everything (plot, effects, scenery) is a thrill ride, this is just a great story. I loved it. So, if you miss it in the theaters, toss it into your Netflix que. You won't be disappointed.
